The El Monte Police Reserve Program consists of over 40 highly-trained sworn police reserve officers who provide police services while maintaining successful careers inside and outside of law enforcement, such as physicians, attorneys, business executives, and business owners.

Upon successful completion of our Department's training program and probationary period, the Reserve Officer may be considered for many assignments in Patrol, Community Relations, Jail Operations, Range Safety Program, Traffic Investigations, Gang Enforcement, Narcotic Enforcement, Cold Case Investigations, Training, Officer Recruitment, Background Investigations, Bicycle Patrol, Mounted Patrol, Special Emergency Response Team (SERT), Canine, and Air Support Operations.  

Besides the numerous assignments, there are opportunities to promote within the police reserve organization, from the rank of Reserve Officer to Reserve Captain.  

The El Monte Police Reserve Program is dedicated to professionalism and assisting the regular members of the Department in fulfilling their mission of “Courtesy and Service”.
