The El Monte Police Department’s Parking Enforcement Unit is an essential part of the department’s Neighborhood Services Program.
Parking Enforcement Officers patrol assigned areas on foot or in a vehicle to enforce parking regulations. Officers also respond to parking complaints, prepare written reports, deploy the speed board, store and impound stolen and abandoned vehicles, enforce previously-marked abandoned vehicles, and direct traffic.

Parking Enforcement Officers also assist with special events, such as safety checkpoints, DUI patrols, and any other events related to traffic safety.
