CRIME ANALYSIS

The Crime Analysis Unit supports a number of departmental functions including patrol, investigations, traffic and administrative services.

By reviewing reports, using our in-house computer, mapping software and other resources, data is collected, analyzed and distributed to patrol and the detective bureau regarding crime series and crime trends to assist in identifying, locating and prosecuting the criminals.  Information is also shared with other law enforcement agencies.

In addition, the Crime Analyst is responsible for the department statistics and compiles the Uniform Crime Report that is forwarded to the California Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.  Statistics can be found on the Attorney General’s website at http://caag.state.ca.us/cjsc/

Our Crime Analysis Unit is staffed with one certified Crime and Intelligence Analyst.

In addition, the Crime Analyst is responsible for departmental statistics and compiles the Uniform Crime Report that is forwarded to the California Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Our year-end crime statistics can be found on the Attorney General’s Criminal Justice Statistics Center.
